Kolkata, April 16 -- West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal today dismissed allegations that any VVIP vehicle, including that of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, had been subjected to search, stating that no such incident was reported in an official high-level review meeting.
"DGP, CP, Chief Secretary and Home Secretary were present in the meeting. None of them reported that any VVIP vehicle was searched. Had such an incident occurred, we would certainly have been informed," he said after the review meeting.
"Central forces do not have the authority to conduct such searches. Searches are carried out by designated authorities as per law, with central forces only assisting them," he added.
