Kolkata, June 16 -- A fresh political controversy has erupted in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district after senior BJP leader Abhijit Das, popularly known as Bobby, lodged an FIR alleging large-scale illegal soil extraction and sale worth more than Rs 300 crore in the Diamond Harbour region.
The complaint, filed late on Monday night at Kalitala-Ashulia police station, names Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee, his close aide Sumit Roy, Bishnupur MLA Dilip Mondal, and 20 others.
