Asansol, April 8 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an election rally in Asansol on Wednesday, with the BJP hoping to gain momentum in its campaigning across the Rahr Banglaregion for the upcoming April 23 assembly polls, political observers said here.

Incidentally, this will be the seventh visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Asansol since 2014.

In 2014, Modi came to Asansol for the first time to campaign for BJP's Lok Sabha candidate singer-turned politician Babul Supriyo and urged the voters "mujhe parliament mein Babul chahiye (I want Babul in parliament)". Babul Supriyo went on to win the polls and became a union minister.
