Kolkata, June 2 -- : Tension gripped Bodra in the Canning East Assembly constituency of South 24-Parganas on Tuesday after a violent clash broke out between supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian Secular Front (ISF) over alleged attempts to take control of a local panchayat.
The confrontation, which began in the morning, quickly escalated into a pitched battle, leaving several activists injured and causing extensive damage to property. Eyewitnesses said workers of both parties hurled stones at each other and engaged in violent exchanges, turning the area into a virtual battleground.
