Birbhum, July 30 -- In a high-stakes midnight operation, the Birbhum district police have busted a massive "hidden treasure house" in a remote village in the Deucha area, under Mohammad Bazar police station, seizing a staggering amount of cash and valuables from a nondescript residence.

Police recovered cash and gold worth nearly Rs 50 crore from the house, and arrested the property's owner. Police have launched a wider investigation into suspected financial irregularities and illegal business operations.

According to the final seizure list, authorities confiscated Rs 28.5 crore in cash and 15 kilograms of 24-carat gold bars and biscuits valued at Rs 21.50 crore.
