Durgapur, June 10 -- : Four wagons of a goods train derailed on the slow track near West Burdwan district's Panagarh station on Wednesday morning, disrupting rail traffic and blocking a rail gate there for nearly two hours.
According to the Railway officials, the goods train loaded with materials from Panagarh Industrial Park and heading towards the Howrah-Delhi main line had entered the slow line towards Panagarh station when four wagons derailed. The derailed wagons were dragged for about 500 metres before the train came to a halt at the station.
The derailment also led to the closure of 103 No. rail gate, causing some temporary inconvenience to commuters and residents who cross the tracks daily to catch trains.
