Beijing, Jan. 21 -- China is unlikely to join the US President Donald Trump-led Board of Peace in post-war Gaza, as the initiative is driven entirely by self-interest rather than any genuine desire for peace, said Chinese expert Wang Wen, dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at the Renmin University of China.

Speaking to Russia's state media TASS, Wen said Beijing "will not join the so-called Board of Peace to resolve the situation in Gaza," alleging that the body "cannot play a role in resolving the Gaza issue and it definitely won't be effective," due to looking more like a homage to Trump's 'Make America Great Again' slogan, rather than a desire for creating lasting peace in the Middle East.
