Purnea/Katihar, March 12 -- Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samrat Choudhary on Thursday alleged that before 2005 an "industry of kidnapping" operated in Bihar and Purnea used to be its centre.

Addressing a public meeting during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Samriddhi Yatra in Purnea, Choudhary said here that prior to 2005, criminals used to commit crimes and flee through Purnea and the Seemanchal region to other states and neighbouring countries.
