Nagpur, Nov. 21 -- In a shocking and heartrending incident at the Regional Mental Hospital at Mankapur, in Maharashtra's Nagpur, a swarm of bees launched a violent attack on the patients during lunchtime, leading to one elderly patient's death, while 37 other patients and two staff members were injured, hospital sources said.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon around 1 PM, when patients from wards 4 and 5 were seated and having their lunch peacefully.

By 1:30 PM, a large swarm of bees unexpectedly came near them. Because many of the patients are mentally ill, they were disoriented and didn't understand how to defend themselves or protect themselves.
