Chandigarh, April 1 -- Untimely rainfall accompanied by a severe hailstorm has caused extensive damage to standing crops across several districts of Punjab, with Barnala being among the worst affected.

Local farmers reported that more than half of their produce has been decimated by the sudden weather shift, leaving the agricultural community in deep financial distress.

The aggrieved farmers have urged the state government to conduct immediate assessments and provide adequate compensation to mitigate the heavy losses incurred during this critical harvesting phase.
