Beed, Sept. 1 -- : A 47-year-old woman from Maharashtra's Beed district has drawn widespread admiration after winning a local marathon barefoot and securing a cash prize she intends to spend on her daughters' education.

Ramabai Ranveer, a resident of Ambajogai, emerged victorious in the Amrit Daud marathon organised by a local organisation.

The race began at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and concluded at Bhagyanagar Chowk.

Despite running barefoot on uneven roads strewn with stones and managing her saree while competing, Ramabai outpaced other participants to finish first and claim the Rs 3,000 prize.
