Srinagar, Dec. 16 -- Celebrations erupted across Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday after local fast bowler Auqib Nabi, 28, was picked up by Delhi Capitals for a whopping Rs 8.40 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, with leaders including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah congratulating the young cricketer on his historic achievement.
The announcement of Nabi's name at the auction triggered scenes of jubilation at his ancestral home in Sheeri, Baramulla, where family members distributed sweets, embraced one another and offered prayers.
