Shillong, Aug. 11 -- The High Court of Meghalaya Bar Association and the Shillong Bar Association have jointly demanded the removal of State Advocate General Amit Kumar by accusing him of making false statements in court.

The demand for Kumar's removal stems from a law intern's molestation accusation against a senior advocate and the subsequent public parading and assault of the accused by Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) members.

In a joint statement, the associations said they condemned the accused advocate's actions, noting that the Shillong Bar Association had even suspended his membership.
