Dhaka, May 1 -- Bangladesh's Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman on Friday said the country's newly passed Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Amendment) Bill has formally settled for good, the long-running debate over the Jamaat-e-Islami's role as an opposing force the country's 1971 Liberation War.
Speaking as chief guest at a May Day programme organised by the Municipal Workers' Party in Shailkupa, in Jhenaidah district, Asaduzzaman said the passage of the National Freedom Fighters Council Amendment Act-2026 had effectively codified the issue in law.
