Dhaka/Kuala Lumpur, June 22 -- Bangladesh and Malaysia have agreed to accelerate negotiations on a bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA), with the aim of concluding the pact by 2027 in both sides' bid to bolster economic and diplomatic cooperation.
The commitment was announced in a joint statement issued after talks between Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Perdana Putra complex in Putrajaya on June 22.
The meeting also marked Rahman's first official bilateral engagement with another head of state since being sworn into office back in February.
