Bengaluru, July 27 -- A suspected illegal real estate venture has come under the scanner in Karnataka's Bandipur Tiger Reserve after forest officials moved to halt the alleged conversion of agricultural land into a layout-style "farm plots" township inside the ecologically sensitive zone.

The project, located in Mangala village of Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar district, is alleged to involve the carving up of agricultural land into multiple farm plots, with concrete roads, solar fencing and other infrastructure being developed without mandatory statutory approvals.
