Hyderabad, July 17 -- union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday alleged that the Telangana government was diverting 15th Finance Commission funds, meant for village development, towards payment of electricity bills and staff salaries, and warned that the Centre could consider depositing such funds directly into Gram Panchayat accounts if the practice continued.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to Sircilla district, Bandi Sanjay said diverting development funds for other purposes violated guidelines and accused the state government of pressuring Sarpanches to do so.
