Panchkula, June 4 -- Bahbalpur Gram Panchayat has become the first village panchayat in the Panchkula district to move towards assuming responsibility for the management and maintenance of its drinking water supply system under a new initiative of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).
The proposal was unanimously approved in a Gram Sabha meeting, marking a significant step towards community-led water governance.
To operationalize the initiative, a joint declaration was signed by representatives of the Gram Panchayat, Village Water and Sewerage Committee (VWSC), and officials of the Public Health Engineering Department, paving the way for further implementation.
