Shenzhen, Sept. 1 -- India's rising shuttler Unnati Hooda bowed out of the China Masters 2026 badminton tournament after losing to world No. 12 Kim Ga-eun of the Republic of Korea in the women's singles opening round here on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old Indian badminton player, ranked 25th in the world, lost 21-10, 21-18 in 37 minutes at the Shenzhen Sports Centre Gymnasium in the People's Republic of China,according to olympics.com.

Kim Ga-eun raced to a 4-0 lead in the opening game and extended her advantage to 11-3 at the mid-game interval. The experienced Korean maintained control after the break to take the opener comfortably.
