Taipei, Aug. 1 -- India's Tanvi Sharma reached the women's singles final at the Taipei Open 2026 badminton tournament on Saturday, but compatriot Unnati Hooda's run ended at the semi-final stage of the BWF Super 300 event.
World No. 34 Tanvi, unseeded, needed just 33 minutes to get past fifth seed Huang Yu-Hsun of Chinese Taipei, winning her semi-final match 21-17, 21-11 at the Taipei Arena.
In the first game, Tanvi never ceded the lead. The Chinese Taipei player, 24th in the badminton rankings, was on level terms just once - at 3-3.
The second game saw Tanvi and Huang level at 9-all before Tanvi raced ahead with a cluster ofsix unanswered points before closing out the match, according to olympics.com.
