Sydney, June 12 -- PV Sindhu continued her impressive run at the Australian BadmintonOpen 2026 here on Friday, cruising past Chinese Taipei's Chen Su-yu in the quarter-finals toset up a last-four showdown against world champion Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.

Sindhu, 10th in the women's singles badminton rankings, needed just 27 minutes to knock out the 68th-ranked Chen Su-yu 21-6, 21-9 and book her place in the semi-finals of the BWF Super 500 tournament.

However, the 30-year-old Indian badminton player will have her task cut out in the semi-finals against reigning world champion Akane Yamaguchi, who beat Indian teenager Tanvi Sharma 21-14, 21-14 in her quarter-final clash, according to olympics.com.
