Nagpur, Nov. 3 -- Maharashtra's agrarian issues have returned to the political spotlight following an intense farmers' agitation in Nagpur led by Prahar Janshakti Party chief Bacchu Kadu.
The two-day protest, which drew over 10,000 farmers from across the state, compelled the Devendra Fadnavis government to defer loan recoveries till June 30, 2026, and form a nine-member committee, headed by Chief Economic Advisor Praveen Pardeshi, to suggest measures to end farmers' debt distress.
At a meeting with Kadu, Mahadev Jankar and Ajit Navale in Mumbai, the government also agreed to discuss farmers' demands for a 20% bonus on MSP, inclusion of all cultivation costs under the Maharashtra Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and the scrapping of the ...
