Dhaka, Aug. 15 -- The Awami League has accused the current Bangladesh government of not allowing the remembrance of the country's founder and first prime minister 'Bangabandhu' Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on the day of his death anniversary.
"For third consecutive year, the state unleashed deadly crackdown to stop citizens from mourning brutal assassination of Bangladesh's independence leader Bangabandhu and his 19 family members," it wrote on X.
During the Awami League's tenure in office, August 15 was observed as National Mourning Day with programmes being held throughout the month.
