Srinagar, April 25 -- An avalanche struck near Zojila Pass in the Drass area of Kargil district along the Srinagar-Leh highway on Saturday, hitting several vehicles, officials said.
Initial reports said a massive avalanche hit the Shaitani Nallah stretch near the pass. The impact zone was beyond Zero Point-the boundary between the union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh-while up to Zero Point falls on the Kashmir side.
Officials said at least nine vehicles were affected, including two trucks that were pushed down the slope.
One person sustained injuries in the incident, while no fatalities have been reported so far.
