Sydney, Jan. 4 -- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has congratulated veteran opener Usman Khawaja after the left-hander announced his retirement from international cricket ahead of the fifth and final Ashes Test against England at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The 39-year-old confirmed that the Sydney Test will be his last appearance for Australia at the international level, bringing the curtain down on a long and distinguished career. Khawaja announced while addressing the media at the SCG before the start of the final Test of the series.
