Kingstown, March 20 -- Beth Mooney (79) and Alana King (three wickets) led Australia women's team to a 43-run victory over the West Indies Women in the first T20I in Jamaica. With this, Australia took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Beth Mooney was awarded the Player of the Match award for her brilliant batting.
Chasing a target of 165, West Indies women's team could only manage 121 runs for six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs against the Australian bowling attack and lost the match by 43 runs.
The opening pair of Qiana Joseph and Hayley Matthews made a steady start, adding 33 runs for the first wicket.
