Lucknow, Sept. 1 -- With 24 per cent more rainfall than normal in August alone, the monsoon picture in Uttar Pradesh has improved.
The heavy rainfall in August largely compensated for the weak rainfall in June and July in the state.
However, the total rainfall across the state from June 1 to August 31 was still seven per cent below normal.
From June 1 to August 31, the state received 552.8 mm of rain, while the normal rainfall for this period is considered to be 593.1 mm. Thus, the state's total rainfall was seven per cent below normal.
Amid the reactivation of the monsoon, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall in 11 districts in the southern part of the state for Tuesday.
