Guwahati, Aug. 27 -- Leader of Opposition of the Assam Legislative assembly Debabrata Saikia has approached the Assam Human Rights Commission over the recent death of a newborn who died in the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital recently allegedly due to medical negligence.
" I am writing this letter in my official capacity and as a concerned citizen committed to upholding human rights, to bring to your esteemed Commission's urgent attention a grave incident of medical negligence at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Guwahati, which resulted in the untimely death of a four-day-old newborn girl on August 18, 2025," Saikia said in his letter to the Chairman of Assam Human Rights Commission.
