Laitkor, March 23 -- Top commanders of the Assam Rifles, the oldest paramilitary force in India, on Monday reviewed the security situation in the northeastern states.

The brainstorming session, held at the Assam Rifles headquarters here in Meghalaya, was inaugurated by Assam Rifles chief Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera. The formation's commanders, battalion commanders, and staff officers from Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles and various formations attended the meet.

"We have reviewed and analysed the security situation in the northeast. The security situation in the region is overall peaceful apart from Manipur," a senior Assam Rifles official told UNI on condition of anonymity.
