Guwahati, April 9 -- Over 85 per cent of the 2.51 crore-plus electors across Assam cast their vote amid stringent security ignoring intermittent rains. Held in a single-phase on Thursday, the voting remained by and large peaceful except for some sporadic incidents.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the overall polling figure across the state's 126 constituencies was 85.61 per cent, which could go up with fresh data still pouring in.
