Guwahati, March 20 -- Leading a 6-kilometre massive and colourful roadshow, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday filed his nomination from the Jalukbari constituency for the upcoming Assam Assembly polls.
"With the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev and Janta Janardhan, I filed my nomination from Jalukbari LAC for the upcoming Assam elections," Sarma said, taking to his X accountt, after filing his papers at the Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner's office.
This would be Sarma's seventh election from Jalukbari constituency, from which he has won five times consecutively. He was elected on a Congress ticket thrice in 2001, 2006 and 2011, and as a BJP contestant in the last two elections in 2016 and 2021. ...
