Guwahati, July 1 -- Assam police today carried out a series of raids against beef in different districts of Assam and arrested 133 persons for their involvement in selling beef.

The police have also seized a huge quantity of meat suspected to be beef, police said.

A senior official of the Assam police said that a total of 133 people have also been arrested for selling beef in different towns across the state.

He said that the raids were carried out include Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Nagaon, Charaideo, South Kamrup, Cachar and Dibrugarh.

"A huge quantity of both cooked and raw meat suspected to be beef were seized during the raid. In Kokrajhar alone, four hotels were searched by police teams," the police official said.
