Guwahati, June 27 -- The BJP led government in Assam is planning to make the rules for issuing Adhar cards and birth and death registration stricter.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the government is contemplating to make the rules regarding issuance of Aadhar card stricter to ensure that only genuine citizens can acquire the vital document, categorized as national identity card.
"We have discussed the issue of making the rules for Adhar card stricter in today's cabinet. We are going to discuss it further in the next cabinet," Sarma said while addressing the media after a cabinet meeting today. Sarma was accompanied by Housing and Urban Affairs minister Jayanta Mallabaruah.
