Guwahati, July 10 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assamese language is the permanent state language of Assam and warned that no one should try to use the language as a tool for blackmailing.
The Chief Minister said this on Thursday while reacting to the threat of a minority community students' leader who had recently urged the Bengali-speaking Muslim community in Assam not to write Assamese as their mother tongue in the forthcoming census.
