Guwahati, Sept. 4 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for pioneering groundbreaking reforms in India's GST structure, and to the GST Council ensuring their effective implementation.
Yesterday evening, union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the GST Council had decided to opt for a two-tier rate structure. According to the announcements, the GST structure will have two slabs of taxes, 5 per cent and 18 per cent effective from September 22.
