Guwahati, Oct. 23 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that police have identified one culprit behind the bomb blast on railway tracks near Kokrajhar in the early hours today. Sarma stated that a major tragedy was averted because the loco pilot of a goods train witnessed the explosion and immediately alerted police.
According to a spokesperson of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), the blast occurred at approximately 1 am as the goods train UP AZARA Sugar was passing between Salakati and Kokrajhar. The Train Manager reported a heavy jerk, prompting the train to stop. Inspection confirmed damage to the track and sleepers due to a suspected bomb blast.
