Jammu, July 23 -- IPS officer Asif Jalal will take over as the new Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Jammu Frontier.

Jalal will replace Shashank Anand, who took charge of the Jammu Frontier in February last year.

Official sources said that Asif Jalal, a 2002-batch Himachal Pradesh cadre IPS officer, is expected to assume command of the strategically important Jammu Frontier in the next few days. The frontier shares the International Border with Pakistan.

Jalal was appointed Inspector General in the Border Security Force in February 2022 and will remain on deputation with the BSF until September 23, 2027.
