New Delhi, Sept. 19 -- India's Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza stayed in the hunt for a historic Asian Games medal despite losing 1-2 to Indonesia's Ima Sumaya in the women's singles semifinal at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center on Saturday.
The 24-year-old, making her Asian Games debut, started on a strong note and took the opening set 12-7. Sumaya, however, responded in the second set, recovering from an early deficit to take the lead and eventually win it 12-9, forcing the contest into a decider.
Quimcy again made a positive start in the third set, moving 3-0 ahead before extending her advantage to 4-1. Sumaya then turned the match around, taking control of the decider andwinning it 12-7 to book her place in the final.
