Aichi-Nagoya, Sept. 20 -- PV Sindhu wasted little time in making her presence felt at the Asian Games, sweeping aside Kazakhstan's Kamila Smagulova in straight games to hand India an early lead in the women's team event here on Sunday.
The two-time Olympic medallist, playing in her fourth Asian Games, produced a commanding 21-7, 21-9 victory to put India 1-0 ahead in the Round of 16 tie and set the tone for the Indian women's campaign.
Sindhu was in control from the opening rally, using her reach and attacking strokes to dictate the exchanges. Smagulova struggled to find a way into the contest as the Indian steadily pulled away in both games.
