Puri, July 20 -- The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has commenced an extensive repair and conservation programme at the 12th-century Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri during the annual nine-day stay of the presiding deities at the Gundicha Temple.
An expert team comprising officials of the ASI, specialists from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), IIT Madras, and technical members of the Sri Jagannath Temple administration is carrying out a detailed structural assessment of the temple's Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum), Natamandap, Jagamohan and Bhog Mandap.
