Bengaluru, Aug. 16 -- Karnataka Leader of Opposition R Ashoka on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government over the killing of three persons in firing by forest personnel in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district, questioning the official version of the incident and demanding an independent judicial inquiry.
Ashoka said glaring contradictions between the forest department's account and statements from the families and local residents had created serious doubts over whether the firing was justified.
The forest department has claimed that the four persons were involved in hunting wild animals and selling their meat, while the families and local residents have termed the incident a fake encounter.
