Bengaluru, July 3 -- Karnataka Leader of Opposition R Ashoka on Friday sought Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's response to the Tamil Nadu Congress' opposition to the Mekedatu balancing reservoir project, accusing him of maintaining a "deafening silence" despite the objections coming from leaders of his own party.

Questioning Shivakumar's silence, the BJP leader said the Chief Minister, who has repeatedly projected himself as the strongest advocate of the Mekedatu project, had failed to react after Tamil Nadu Congress leaders warned against the implementation of the proposed reservoir across the Cauvery river.
