Aizawl, June 4 -- African Swine Fever (ASF) continues to take a heavy toll on pig farmers in Mizoram, with more than 2,200 pigs dying from the disease and hundreds more culled as authorities struggle to contain its spread across six districts.

Officials of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department said on Thursday that 2,281 pigs had died due to ASF between January and June 3 this year, while 683 pigs were culled as a preventive measure to curb transmission of the disease.
