Jodhpur, May 28 -- Self-styled godman Asaram, a convict in a 13-year-old case of rape of a minor girl, arrived here and surrendered at the Central Jail on Thursday following dismissal of his appeal against the conviction in the Rajasthan High Court.
The High Court bench comprising Justices Arun Monga and Yogendra Kumar Purohit on Wednesday dismissed Asaram's appeals against the trial court's conviction order of April 2018.
The High Court accordingly upheld the life imprisonment (unto death) slapped by the trial court on the convict.
While upholding the trial court's verdict of rape on minor, the division bench, acquitted him of charges of gang rape and criminal conspiracy.
