Asansol, July 18 -- Four labourers received critical burn injuries after a furnace blast in a Steel Melting Shop of Kelstar Sponge Iron Limited factory in Sheikhpura in Jamuria Police Station area late in the evening here today.
The blast occurred at around 9. 30 PM. The four workers have been shifted to a private super speciality hospital's critical burns unit in serious condition by the factory management.
Sources said that rescue work was delayed due to spilling of liquid hot metal from the ladle.
After hearing a huge cracking sound the local people rushed to the factory site and informed police.
Initially the workers were taken to a hospital in Raniganj but later shifted to Durgapur.
