Srinagar, June 26 -- Hurriyat chairman and Kashmir's chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as one of India's longest-serving leaders, would revive the spirit of engagement with neighbours and stakeholders to address longstanding issues in the region.

Addressing the Friday congregation at Srinagar's historic Jamia Masjid on Youm-e-Ashoora (10th day of Muharam), the Mirwaiz said the tragedy of Karbala was not merely a historical event but an eternal lesson in truth, justice, patience and sacrifice.
