Kolkata, June 1 -- In a significant development, former West Bengal minister Arup Biswas on Monday approached the Barasat Court seeking anticipatory bail after an FIR was registered against him in connection with the alleged mismanagement and irregularities surrounding Lionel Messi's visit to Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium.
Biswas filed his anticipatory bail plea amid fears of arrest following the registration of the case by Bidhannagar South Police Station.
The FIR was lodged on the basis of a written complaint filed by event organiser Shatadru Dutta, who was earlier arrested in connection with the same incident and later released on bail.
