Itanagar, April 7 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Arunachal Pradesh, on Tuesday rejected the demand by the State Pradesh Congress Committee seeking the resignation of Chief Minister Pema Khandu over a Supreme Court-directed preliminary inquiry into alleged allotment of public contracts.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Itanagar, BJP chief spokesperson Mutchu Mithi, along with MLA Topin Ete and party spokesperson Tobom Dai, termed the Congress's demand as "politically motivated and misleading."The party clarified that the Supreme Court has only ordered a preliminary inquiry and no findings of wrongdoing have been established so far.
