Washington, April 3 -- The four astronauts on the Artemis II mission have departed the Earth's orbit and set a course for the moon, after their Orion spacecraft fired its main engine.
The 5:50-minutee burn, known as the translunar injection (TLI), went "flawlessly", according to NASA's Dr Lori Glaze, delivering a sustained thrust that accelerated the capsule by thousands of kilometres per hour, reports BBC.
From orbit, Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen told mission control the crew was "feeling pretty good up here on our way to the Moon," adding that they "firmly felt the power" of those behind the mission.
