Chandigarh, March 27 -- The Punjab government has suspended three senior officials, including the General Manager of the Ludhiana Milk Plant, after the Indian Army rejected a 125-metric-tonne consignment of Verka milk powder over quality concerns, triggering a high-level probe into lapses in the state's flagship dairy cooperative.

The action, ordered by Milkfed Managing Director Rahul Gupta, followed laboratory findings by the Army that the samples failed to meet required quality standards, raising serious questions over production and supply chain controls.
